New range of tool cases to store SKF’s wide range of maintenance tools, offering improved efficiency and multiple unique features.

 

SKF is a leading global manufacturer and supplier of industrial solutions including bearings, seals, lubrication systems, linear motion products and services The company’s Maintenance Products division sells tool-kits that are used by professionals all over the world to install and service bearings. SKF used to ship the range of over 60 different tool kits in almost as many generic tool cases.

 

We developed, in close cooperation with SKF, a new modular design that requires not more than 5 different cases for all available tool kits. The new cases in the characteristic blue corporate color have been designed with the professional user and working environment in mind. From observations and interviews with these users, three main topics emerged:

 

Smart storage: The cases can be stacked neatly and safely because of the carefully selected modular dimensions and stacking details. The modular system has improved transport logistics as well.

 

Information is everything: Labels with crucial information about the content are placed on the sides of the case and enable quick identification of the required tool kit at the storage location.

 

Built to last: Robust aluminum closures on the corners are durable and distinctive to represent the well-known SKF product quality. The overall build quality ensures that the case tolerates rough use. A lot of attention was paid to ergonomic details such as a carrying handle that is big enough to be used with gloves.

 

These technical, logistic and ergonomic improvements were combined with a new consistent brand look and feel, reflecting SKF brand values and making the user feel “proud to own a SKF tool”.
