B.Sc Thesis | Aluminium baffled fuel tank
Fully baffled aluminium fuel tank, with trap doors plus pump relocation in the center to eliminate fuel starvation due to intense cornering.
Designed in Solidworks within the chassis Assy, to optimize fitment,
functionality and volume.
The main design factors were fuel capacity, cost, ease of assembly, strength,
optimum baffling, fuel pump shape/size, weight, and manufacturing method
(TIG welded, machined, laser cut-/Press-brake bended parts).
Manufactured from laser cut 5083/1050 aluminium, with Stainless-steel-/Aluminium trap doors. Ultimately powder coated for added durability.
