Sagarmatha Next- Museum Identity

Sagarmatha Next is a project that creates awareness of the mountain environment and its importance for the entire earth ecosystem.

Beginning with a visionary building at the base of Everest, the project has state of the art equipment to share information, and an entire programme of waste collection, upcycling and recycling.

Our challenge was to name the project and find a visual identity for it that encapsulated its many facets including a museum, restaurant, interpretation center, and waste upcycling facility.
NAME
The name ‘Sagarmatha Next’ seemed to capture the vision of the project closely, with its connotation of hope towards the future of the earth’s highest peak. The visual identity of the project is a wire frame prism design that suggests the distinct triangular shape of Everest and conveys the mandate of the Centre as a transformative and enlightening place.
For the color palette, we chose the bright primary colors of Buddhist prayers flags that are associated with the region.
To minimize interference with the natural environment, we opted for engraving existing stones for signage and wayfinding.
