Fostering and adoption campaign 2013

The joint Fostering and Adoption campaign was launched in Torbay in September 2013 to increase awareness and raise the profile of Torbay Council’s fostering and adoption services as well as to attract more applicants. The campaign also retains individual key messages and established branding for both services and is based on national and local evidence. One free phone number was promoted to members of the public.

In order to support and strengthen the overall campaign, specific key messages aimed at people who were clear if they want to foster or adopt was also used. This provided a secondary, targeted element to the campaign and enabled the established fostering and adoption branding to be retained to build on previous promotions:

Fostering - Due to the current economic climate and geographical position in Torbay, there aren’t many well paid jobs in the area. As well as highlighting the need for quality carers, the fostering element of the campaign raises awareness about Torbay Council’s new enhanced financial incentives of becoming a foster carer as well as the career opportunities and emotional benefits it presents. This aims to encourage more people, who may have thought that they couldn’t afford to foster, to find out more and to consider fostering as a viable job option.

Adoption - Torbay Council’s adoption service focuses on how prospective adopters can make a huge difference to their own and a child’s life. It uses the strapline  “Change a Child’s Life” and shows images of younger children.
