Inspired by my mother's work in aiding families with special needs children, I focused my high school Senior Project on educating the community about special needs individuals in order to raise awareness and build community support/understanding for them.
The project was driven by an intensive research project about the subject and then various aspects of print and web design materials to convey the information. My interest in data visualization came into play as I try to summarize the prevalence and importance of inclusion for the special needs individuals in our communities through interesting graphics. After all the materials were completed, I presented them at a community forum before roughly a hundred event attendees and the message was very well-received.
