My final year major project was developed in response to a brief set by the City of Sydney. The client sought to re-invigorate the existing Chinatown Markets in Haymarket with a complete brand overhaul, in hopes of introducing a new audience to the longstanding event. 
 
The logo and identity has been developed by fusing distinct elements from both Chinese and Australian cultures; A chinese fan and the ‘Sydney Tile’ which make up the unique exterior of the Sydney Opera House. I Chose these elements as they each hold symbolic significance in both cultures. This graphic element was inspired by the crystallisation that takes place when two cultures collide and represents Chinatown as a culturally diverse and dynamic place. 
 
For this project, I have introduced a visual identity which is simple and youthful, yet still maintains links to the Asian heritage of the site. The deliverables include: stall, print and online collateral.
