With the admiration for Junichiro Tanizaki's idea about Japanese aesthetics, I designed a cover for this book. This publication was in 1933, after a long time, I still found it fascinating.

An essay on aesthetics by the Japanese novelist, this book explores architecture, jade, food, and even toilets, combining an acute sense of the use of space in buildings. The book also includes descriptions of lacquerware under candlelight and the relationship between light and shadow.
