OPPORTUNITY
Create an original typeface based on one or more strong, classic typefaces.
SOLUTION
The goal was to create a very classic typeface that also had a quirky and feminine twist. This was achieved by pairing a typeface that had gentle curves and letterform relationships with another that employed strong serif placement. Renée is based on ITC Avant Garde and Rockwell MT. The letterforms have a similar structure to that of Avant Garde and the serif placement is loosely based on Rockwell. Softer serifs than Rockwell were created by incorporating a slight curve to the serif as it meets the letter. This produced a more feminine, yet still stable, typeface.
