The series of illustrations based on a prompts devoted to different tales.

In each illustration I want to highlight the main atmosphere of each tale I represent.

 

 

For the prompt “Rituals” I choose a fight between hero and the three headed dragon: in old times the man have to make a exploit to show his strength and capability to make a union with a beloved woman, sometimes save her from a monster. 

 

 

For “Death” I illustrated “The Dead Tsarevna and Seven Bogatyrs”.

 

 

For the prompt “Courtship“ I choose the story “The Beauty and the Beast”

 

 

For the next prompt “Solstice” I illustrated a celebration of the winter solstice, when the people burnt fires all night long to keep the year alive and to protect themselves from a monsters. 

 

 

“Harvest” was the next theme of #folktaleweek. I decided to choose a folk tale about a man and a bear, who were dividing the harvest “Tops and roots”. 

 

 

The theme of the last prompt for #folktaleweek is “Dance” and I decided to choose a story about Egyptian Cinderella.
