GLENRIDDING SAILING CENTRE - LAKE DISTRICT, UK
The brief was to design new sailing facilities for the Glenridding sailing centre at Lake District, UK.
The programme for the building is essentially to provide an office, WC, kitchen, changing facilities, storage for sailing gear, teaching spaces and workshop facilities for the repair and maintenance of boats.
The activities of the centre are seasonal and this is reflected in the way spaces are used and can be transformed e.g. teaching spaces can be transformed into maintenance and repair bays.
Finally one of the main concerns is flooding and the risk to any structures built.
