Here are some pages from my sketchbooks which have an essence of something I intend to carry further. This month is PiBoIdMo (Picturebooks Ideas Month) and I am attempting to come up with at least 30 ideas. Images such as these hold the key to my imagination when I work in a stream of conciousness way. My sketchbooks often contain collage as they are created from what is at hand - photos, prints, ephemera, painted paper, therefore these pieces are different to the rest of my porfolio of self promotional childrens book illustration work.

 

They have one thing in common, all are settings with no characters, I imagine them as scenes before or after an event. Who would be in a place like this? Why? What is the character thinking off set?
