Due to today's warped perception of beauty, females are no longer satisfied with their looks and result to cosmetic surgery or have eating disorders and depression. Since the 20th century, manufacturers and the mass media have capitalized beauty. As a result, only 2% of women around the world would describe themselves as beautiful.

 

The gentlewoman faux special issue titled "What is beauty?" is an investigation of the warped perception of beauty and why people are not satisfied with the way they look. The project consist of the publication, as well as a microsite and video to promote it.
