Revisando los informes del Centro Nacional de Memoria Histórica al igual que las iniciativas y los proyectos de recuperación y transmisión de memoria, encuentro de inmenso valor el que se manifieste de manera recurrente la necesidad imperante por parte de las víctimas el que sus vivencias sean reconocidas y que sus historias como comunidad o colectivo sean validadas, esto con el objetivo claro de re-construirse cimentados en la verdad. Su increíble fortaleza frente a la adversidad y su valerosa postura frente a la impunidad son dignos de admiración y respeto, por lo que “metamorfosis” se centra en rendir homenaje a los testimonios de aquellos que sortean los avatares del conflicto armado en nuestro país, apuntándole a dibujar un nuevo mañana.
La obra se construye a partir de tres rostros que se funden en uno solo. Cada rostro representa a las víctimas del conflicto armado desde su individualidad en paralelo a la superposición de ellos que pretende poner de manifiesto el rostro colectivo del conflicto; uno que bajo la oleada de la violencia se desdibuja y se re-dibuja constantemente sometiéndose a múltiples metamorfosis con el objetivo de reconstruir la identidad resquebrajada, una identidad que por demás es tanto individual como colectiva.
Sí, finalmente es un solo rostro, el rostro de las víctimas testigo de los horrores de la violencia, pero este no es un semi-rostro amorfo y sin expresión, es uno compuesto de miles de millones de rostros de personas que necesitan ser legitimadas en su individualidad para reconocerse dentro de un conflicto despojado de cara.
Es fundamental el empoderar a las víctimas del conflicto en Colombia ya que cada una de ellas tienen el derecho de manifestarse desde la singularidad de sus historias para comenzar a sanar mediante la socialización de las mismas, de lo contrario la etiqueta prima y “el sujeto” sale de la ecuación. Así, re-significar a los dolientes para ratificarlos en su condición de testigos permite trascender la idea de “víctima” y garantizar el retorno de su dignidad; es por esta razón que se hace indispensable el preguntarnos: ¿Quienes son las personas a las que toca la violencia en Colombia?
Looking through the reports of the “Centro Nacional de Memoria Histórica” as well as the initiatives and projects of memory retrieval and transmission, I found of immense value the urgent need of the victims that their experiences get to be recognized and their stories as a community or group get validated, this with the clear aim of re-construct themselves founded on the truth. His incredible strength in the face of adversity and his courageous stand against impunity are worthy of admiration and respect, so "metamorphosis" aims to pay homage to the testimonies of those who circumvent the vicissitudes of the conflict in our country, aiming to draw a new tomorrow.
The piece is constructed from three faces that melt into one. Each face represents the victims of armed conflict from its individuality, while the overlapping seeks to highlight the collective face of the conflict, one that under the wave of violence is redrawn constantly undergoing multiple metamorphosis in order to rebuild the cracked identity. An identity that is both individual as well as collective.
Yes it is a single face, the face of the victims who witnessed the horrors of violence, but this is not a semi-amorphous and expressionless face, is a compound of thousands of millions of faces of people who need to be legitimized in their individuality in order to be recognized within a conflict that steals them of themselves.
It is essential to empower the victims of the conflict in Colombia as they each have the right to manifest from the uniqueness of their stories to begin healing through sharing, otherwise the "victim tag" protrudes and "the person" gets out of the equation. Thus, re-signifying those who have suffer to ratify them in their witness capacity helps to transcend the idea of "victim" and ensure the return of their dignity. So it is of great importance to ask ourselves: Who are the people that violence touches the most in Colombia? And what is our part on it?
