Female Inventions Stamps

Female Inventors and their Inventions is a stamp series done for a university assignment.
The theme of the stamps is Female Inventors and their Inventions which has been chosen as it is an area that is not as known as male inventors and stamps are able to communicate to people another group of inventors.  The 6 chosen inventors are the refrigerator, Kevlar, circular saw, fire escapes, medical syringe and windscreen wipers.  The graphic elements are done in a stripped back stylized method, with minimal detail, as fine things get lost in the small size of the stamp.  There is decorative text titling what the invention is in a corresponding element to the product eg. rain for windshield wipers.  As this text is small at first look it is just part of the image, but on closer inspection it is seen to be type and read.  This is also in the same stylized way of the inventions themselves.  The inventor and the year invented are in a blocky sans serif font to fit with the minimal, clear theme conveyed with the images.  This font is also used for the 60c price of the stamp, but Australia is in a finer smaller font, as it is not an important piece of information, compared to the other information included.    The background of the stamps are a complementary pastel colour to the main image.  The pastel scheme brings the stamps together in a series and adds a feminine edge to the stamps which works with the theme.
