A crowded street was just two feet away. A lot of tourists, rambling up and down the street. As I always do, I was looking for the empty spaces. The dumpsters we’re laying there perfectly aligned as intended. Usual case scenario, I guess. In the seconds, minutes, I was there, an elderly gentleman approached. Clean clothes and shaved face, completely oblivious to my presence. He was just a few feet away. He opened the dumpsters one by one and went on is way, with a new addition to the bags he was carrying. I just stood there. Everyone kept on passing by. As if nothing had happened. Nothing at all.

Ao lado uma rua cheia. Mesmo ao lado. Turistas, muitos, em ritmo de passeio. Procurava, como sempre faço, os locais vazios. As pessoas importam-me menos do que aquilo que deixam ficar. Pelo menos isso é verdadeiro. Os contentores de lixo ali estavam, alinhados. O mais normal cenário que podemos encontrar. Nos segundos, minutos, que ali estive, um senhor de uns setenta e poucos anos aproximou-se. Roupa lavada e barba feita, sem que por um momento nos perguntássemos o que ali fazia. Estava a uns cinco metros de mim. Com a maior naturalidade abriu um a um os contentores. E, com a mesma rapidez com que chegou, partiu, levando mais qualquer coisa num dos sacos que transportava. Apenas me deixei ficar. Ali, mesmo ao lado, tudo continuava a correr. E nada se passou. Nada mesmo.
