Increasing Spaciousness in Virtual Reality

People do not often take into account the surroundings. Buildings, walls, doors create limited environments that we spend our time in. When we enter virtual worlds we can do whatever we want. Space there is supposed to be endless. This can be easily created when world is represented on a computer screen, but when we want to fully immerse ourselves into the virtual environment tracking of the body is required. This creates a serious limitation for the freedom of navigating in the virtual worlds.

This project takes a look at possible ways of reducing the limit that tracking environment forces us to think about. The theory and practical applications of moving between different parts of the world by means of flying is explored with the hope that this will help the user of the system forget that there is only a small area one can move in.
