Here's a series of paintings I created for a gallery show back in 2011. I wanted to focus on the theme of life and death as a nuanced cycle that creates a strange sense of balance in the world. I'll let you guys interpret these images how you like, but a lot of these ideas were inspired by the birth of my daughter as well as the passing of three grandparents. Like most of my personal work, I also used these paintings as an opportunity to experiment, choosing to work in a much flatter style which incorporated stencils and paint rollers to create most of the look.
