Ben Folds (Of the trio Ben Folds Five) has a brilliant story-telling method to his song writing. His stories go from tales of love and loss, to aggressive height-challenged characters to his dad calling him a stoner. The characters are beautifully crafted people who in time (well, averaging about 3 minutes) become part of your world the more you listen to his work.
So, tell us a story, using Ben Fold's work as a starting point, and using some of the characters to do so.
