400 GB's full of Lava - Houdini 15 Simulation in 4K

From 2016:

It was a project of nightmares but it was also a lot of fun and nice experiences. I never done a massiv simulation like this before but everything worked out like i thought. Production time was 8 days from first click with research and development and rendering.
One important fact: Without Linux not possible (it consume 12 GBs of Ram on Linux - compared to 32GB of Ram flush on windows) - simulation is calculated on i5 3550 with Nvidia 750Ti oc and the cpu integrated graphics card in 6.5 hours

Facts:

Full spectrum pipeline test of a massive fluid simulation
Including partial rendering on Gridmarkets.com with new closed beta features (it's awesome)
The lava simulation is based on Graham Collier's Lava Asset with alot of modifications:
UV Attribute promotion.
Shader System based on heat and uv textures
better heat disspersion across the flow.
Setup tweeking
Particle upscaling tests ( grain upscaling )
obstacle feedback test
AOV's
Facts of the project.
1 scene with 400 frames
Rendertime for one final frame including compositing and cachesteps: ~ 8 minutes.
Rendertime of one Backround/Light frame on Gridmarkets.com ~ 52 seconds in FullHD.
326 GB's of caching data based on bgeo.sc sequence.
Simulation done in Houdini 15 on Linux Mint 17.3 with support of Nvidia 750Ti oc from Asus.
Simulation was done after 6.5 hours.
Compositing done in Nuke and Blender
Rendered in 1080p and upscaled after compositing with handbrake
7196 files (the entire project)
3d scanned sculptures with openMVG and sculpted floral foam
additional projection painting done in Gimp.
