“Takipsilim” is a deductive sculpture that essentially used white air-dry clay and acrylic paint as materials. It mainly displays a representational scenery of a sunset view by a sea with visible waves for it to allow the artist to express her perspective on life, especially in the days when the pandemic started. Life right now can be seen as a cycle where everything seems to be repetitive and endless, which can somehow be dull and exhausting over time. However, the artist has unfolded the discovery of how beauty could cover all these negativities, for people should rather perceive it as something hopeful.
With this, the deductive sculpture allowed the different representations that can be perceived by the audience. The sunset generally could show how some situations in life that may seem to be finished do not actually end there where every day of our lives actually repeats a cycle without even noticing until you really focus on what’s happening behind. This is because the attention would always be towards the uncertainties and changes in life, which could be conveyed through the waves we encounter that may drown us, difficult for us to get back above. On the other hand, these situations would lead us somewhere unknown but momentous.
The feeling of uneasiness, calmness, or awe is generally expected when seeing the sculpture, depending on how people will apprehend the colors and the three-dimensional form. Here, the audience could recognize various meanings behind what they can see where personal interpretations will surely be present that establish a connection between the artwork and the viewer. This means that “Takipsilim” shows how the artist wants to connect with the audience through art and nature.
Nature is truly a beauty and life as well. It has a sense of balance on everything, bad or good. Thus, the sculpture related to individuals about how life can be challenging but worth it. We may experience drowning from all the stress, anxiety, or pressure in every direction of our lives right now where giving up is like the only choice, but we should always think about the people who have been motivated and inspired by this story that helped them to keep moving forward too in life.
