The Sound of Vitamin D (Short Film)

Behind the Film
The Sound of Vitamin D is film mainly to demonstrate my ability to convey sound. For this project, I wanted to show a horror type story while also keeping the narrative relatively simple. The story's main goal: have a troubled character go from point A to B. To make this concept interesting, and to centralize "sound" as the theme, I made a character that was deprived of vitamin D causing her to crawl and limp to the vitamin D pills. Throughout her journey, you can hear various noise such as, and most prominently, the cracking bones and the slimy sound of her body. By utilizing these sounds, I unnerve the audience which ultimately displays sound as a prominent theme.
The Sounds
The majority of the sounds you hear were all separately created and integrated in post production. I used my Zoom H4n Pro for ambient sounds for the room, the footsteps, miscellaneous sounds of the clothing, and the character's voice.
It's Better to Have an Actor
Originally, I was going to play the character because I had no choice. Fortunately, my sister had the time to contribute and agreed to play the character, which made me exercise my directing abilities further and have more dynamic compositions to make the story more interesting to watch. She did an awesome job conveying the character I wanted her too play, from the movement, the look, and flexibility.
