"O Prêmio Estampa Brasil Renner abre espaço para que artistas, estudantes, profissionais do design e interessados no tema se inspirem na alma brasileira e mostrem seu trabalho.
Serão 12 estampas finalistas nas seguintes categorias: Alma Brasileira da Flora, Alma Brasileira da Fauna, Alma Brasileira do Artesanato, Alma Brasileira das Pessoas e Alma Brasileira da Rua, que serão publicadas no livro "Alma Brasileira", sobre design de estampas.
As quatro estampas finalistas de cada categoria participarão de uma exposição exclusiva do projeto em São Paulo e Salvador.
As criações do primeiro colocado em cada categoria farão parte da coleção de Verão da Renner e seus autores levam para casa cartões presente da loja"

THE AWARD
YOUR PATTERN ON RENNER'S COLLECTION
"The Brasilian Pattern Award - Renner Stores, opens space for artists, students, and design professionals interested in the theme are inspired by the Brazilian soul and show your work.
There will be twelve finalists in the following categories: Soul of the brazilian flora, Soul of the brazilian wildlife, Soul of brazilian craft, Soul of Brazilian People and Soul of brazilian streets, which will be published in the book "Alma Brasileira" (Brazilian Soul) on design patterns.
The four finalists prints of each category will participate in an exclusive exhibition project in São Paulo and Salvador.
The creations of the first place in each category will be part of the summer collection of Renner Stores and the authors take home Renner Stores gift cards "

Brazil is known for its wildlife biodiversity. This way I chose this category to work with.
Within the wildlife I focused on the birds.
Brazil ranks third on the list of countries with the most number of distinct bird species.
I drew 4 species of birds. The Arara, Canário, Cardeal and the Tucano.
Within the drawing I used pattens that related to typical brazilian patterns.

THE PATTERN
Beneath you can see the final pattern.
The same 4 ilustrations are constantly repeated throughout the design to create unity. Their size and position change frequently relating to the hundreds of birds that are not always quiet the same.
The patterns designed into the birds represent textures of the brazilian nature and culture.
On the background we can see a soft triangular pattern that is related to our indians.
The soft pink color was choosen because fashion trends for the summer'14 pointed the color pink out as a trend alert.

The top 12 of the Wildlife Category came out and I was one of the 12 selected!!!! wohoooooo *-*
Unfortunatlly I didn not make it to the top 3.
Nevertheless, the award published a book with all selected designs, exciting information about pattern design and an exclusive intrervieuw with Renata Rubim (surface designer).
