Camelya
 SICILIAN TEA

In the collective imagination, tea cultivation conjures up images of the vast Chinese plantations or the elegance of the Japanese. However, although production is now very limited and has almost disappeared, one of the most important tea-growing traditions can be found in Sicily, on the slopes of Europe's highest volcano: Mount Etna.

Here the Camellia Sinensis (scientific name of the tea plant) lives, blooms and thrives thanks to the acidity of the soil, the cool nights and the abundance of water. It is certainly not an intensive crop, but a niche production for amateurs. And so, when it is harvested, dried and packaged, it is ready to be used in the preparation of aromatic infusions to be savoured in peace.
