USHA Comm - Value Proposition Brochure

I concepted and art directed this informational brochure for Usha Comm while working with a local agency here in Portland Oregon. Usha needed an impressive leave-behind to explain their value propositions, and to make a lasting impression in the minds of potential clients.

Usha provided a software package for the mobile communications industry that captured the fractions of a second that calls weren't being billed for (commonly known as leakage). This software solution allows the phone carriers to track and bill for those milliseconds, vastly increasing their net return.

The foundation of this concept is that people experience the world in little snippits of detail, but we catalogue these random snippits of detail into a seamless narrative - a larger picture if you will. So the idea presented to the client was that we would create a large collage with all of his value propositions illustrated in a single image.
But in order to tell the story in a linear fashion we would highlight a key value proposition and tie it visually to a specific image within the collage that is revealed in small swipes across the pages.
And when we get to the end of the brochure, we can see that all of these value propositions actually create a much larger image with a deeper narrative than the proposition key words by themselves alone.
Here are some close-up images of the individual pages.
This was a nice project to work on because I was working as an art director within a design team consisting of writers, graphic designers and production artists. In addition to the team, we had a nice budget to hire an illustrator that provided the high level of sophistication needed to pull off such a challenging image. I specified all of the key imagery and overall style when working with the illustrator, and he brought his sill and resources to create such a visually rich finished piece.
