Background
Greenredeem was formed in Agust 2011 as a subsidiary of Grundon Waste Management Ltd, and is a recycling reward scheme, aimed at improving the capture rates of beverage containers when consumers are away from home. Essentially, it is a recycling deposit scheme centred around a interactive kiosk where plastic bottles and cans may be deposited in return for reward points redeemable with participating reward partners.
 
Recyclebank was formed in the US in 2004 and has grown to become the global leader in providing rewards for recycling programmes.
 
The Brief
Launched in the UK in 2009, the UK division of Recyclebank was acquired by Greenredeem in April 2013. As part of the acquisition Recyclebank needed to rebranded under the name of Greenredeem.  
 
This presented two key challenges. Firstly, it was important that the new identity minimised the risk of alienating the large and established customer base of Recyclebank (UK), whilst at the same time better reflected the brand in terms of proposition, values and essence.
 
Secondly, whilst Greenredeem and Recyclebank operated in broadly the same field with a similar proposition, they were still essentially two different operations with different values and personalities. Before we could develop an appropriate and effective identity we would first need to define the new brand.
 
Approach
We applied our own proven approach. Define, Articulate, Deliver. Or DAD, as we call it, the mother of all brand identity design methodologies.

We understand that everyone has their own reasons for recycling and taking other green actions. 
 
For many a healthy planet is incentive enough, but an additional nudge in the right direction can still help. That’s the philosophy at the heart of Greenredeem.
