It was an open assignment and I decided to create a wrap-around and a series of interior illustration for William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. I focused on the iconic scenes of the play (e.g. the balcony scene, Friar Laurence’s potion, Romeo and Juliet's death).
I was inspired by art nouveau, and in particular Aubrey Beardsley’s patterning for Wilde’s Salome. The illustrations are stylistically similar to my previous work, but I challenged myself to work with a drastically reduced palette.
