College Avenue Magazine

In my two years at College Avenue Magazine, I created 4 editions of the magazine. Two of those editions were as the Creative Director, two as the Editor-in-Chief. Even as editor, I was still heavily involved in the design process.
Volume 15, Issue 1. Published Fall 2019
This issue was a finalist for Best Student Magazine in the Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence Awards.
This first issue was a response to a string of racial bias events and reactionary protests which occurred on the Colorado State campus. As a staff, we felt these issues were not being addressed by the university administration and questioned if our voices were being heard. In this edition I was responsible for the cover illustration, racial events timeline, Rocky Mountain Showdown spread and the 'Art that's right up your alley' spread.
Volume 15, Issue 2. Published Winter 2019
In this issue, I was responsible for the 'Reclaiming Ivy' spreads and design for 'Behind the Sequins of the CSU Drag Show'.
Volume 15, Issue 3. Published Spring 2020
This issue was my first as Editor-in-Chief. We only had 5 weeks to write, design and send the contents of this edition to print--which hit newsstands only a week before the COVID-19 pandemic shuttered the CSU campus. In this issue I was responsible for the design of 'Let the Music Play' and 'Reaching for Success'.

The cover story 'The Candy Man Can' won in the category of Online Feature Reporting in the Society of Professional Journalists Region 9 Mark of Excellence Awards in Spring 2021. The story will advance to the national SPJ competition, announcing winners in June.
Volume 16, Issue 1. Published Spring 2021
A whole year after publishing our previous edition, and following the launch of our first independent website in October 2020, College Avenue returned to print publishing with 'A Year of COVID' edition. This 48-page edition was our largest-ever magazine, created by our largest staff to date. Not only was I the Editor-in-Chief for this edition, but I also served as Creative Director, leading a team of 3 designers to create the issue.
I was responsible for the cover design, Year of COVID in Colorado timeline design, 'Everything Has Changed' spread and Sorority Life During a Pandemic' design.
