They say, "Never judge a book by its cover." While that's true to a point, a cover still makes a big difference. The design must be eye-catching, and give a brief visual summary of what is in the book.
"The World Without Us" by Alan Weisman book cover redesign was modelled after famous designer Chip Kidd. He is known for his love of comics. bright colors, and quirky style. Morphing the content of the book with his style, it created a wonderful tango of design.
"The Hobbit" by J.J.R Tolken is a story about a Hobbit who was recruited to help a group of Dwarfs rescue their gold. To do this, they must journey throughout the land -- through forests, mountains, valleys, marshes, and more. This is what was portrayed on its cover, so people who are looking for adventure can find it.
