This project was made as a part of my student assignment. The task was to create distinctive merch for neighbourhood with strong ties to it. I chose Aptekarsky Ostrov which is part of Petrogradsky district of Saint-Petersburg, Russia.
I wanted to emphasise both on its history and urban development. To give you some background Aptekarsky Ostrov is translated as Pharmacists Island and many medical institutions are located here. Nowadays it is developing rapidly. Warehouses and factories are being renovated for startup offices, creative clusters, bars and restaurants. New housing for upper-middle is being built.
I created a pattern which has islands name abbreviation (AO) resembling pills, illustration of carp fish, to highlight the fact that district is connected to water, and full district name set in circle.
