Fourty-three percent of Madagascar’s population is aged under 15 years of age. Sixty-six percent of women will have a child before they are 18 years old. The country’s population is forecast to double by 2050 to 42.3 million. Fewer girls are enrolled in high school than boys. Eight-six percent of adult women participate in the labour force that is largely related to agriculture. Average life expectancy for females is 60 years of age.
