About KOMOLABO.
It is a project which promotes komodaru formodern and casual use. Traditionally the item has been used at auspiciousoccasions like "Kagami biraki", so we would like to carry this intothe future and we'd like many people be familiar as a gift items. Taking thehistorical background into consideration, we will propose new Komodaru with thehelp of creative artists.

During the Edo period, sake (Japanese ricewine) from traditional production areas such as Itami, Nada, was favored inEdo.
In the early days, two 36-liter barrelswere carried on horseback, but later were transported by sea and had becomemainstream. Cargo ships called "Taru Kaisen" could be frequently seenon the sea. 74-liter barrels were loaded on the cargo ships; the barrels werecovered with special straw mats which were called "Komo Kaburi". Thepurpose of Komo (straw mats) was to protect barrels during transportation;however, in order to distinguish them from other brands, they were branded orprinted with trademarks. This printing mark was called "ShirushiKomo".  "KagamiBiraki", where the lid of the barrel (called Kagami) is openedenergetically and a toast is made, is an essential opening event at suchauspicious occasions as weddings and other celebrations.
Since our foundation in the Meiji era, wehave been offering products creating an auspicious atmosphere, which is ourgreatest pleasure. We hope to continue to convey the charm of our products.Amagasaki is surrounded by several of the most famous sake producing areas inJapan, it has developed the production of Komo Nawa (straw rope) as localindustry as a winter job for farmers. Even today, we still produce most of theShirushi Komo signs used by the brewing companies nationwide. "
