I thought about the passage of time which will one day submerge New York City underwater due to climate change. This “undoing” of what is widely considered to be one of the world’s capitals is induced by the same hands of human innovation that birthed it, and this process accounts for only a tiny and insignificant portion of Earth’s cosmic existence. Although climate change is an issue that should be actively combatted for our own sake, I wanted to create an illustration illuminating and trivializing the anthropocentric nature of our perspective.
