Cigarette Break
It's not very clean if you look at it up-close, but I still like this piece a lot so I wanted to share the process behind it! Finished this March 11, 2021.
Rough sketch first like always. I used Sora Choi as reference. I've been interested in models lately and seeing her photo inspired me to draw this!
'Cleaner' sketch. I honestly don't bother with clean lineart most times because I paint over my lines anyway. Worked with dark red lines and set them to multiply.
Added some flat colors.
Started painting. I wasn't liking how the face was turning out but I wasn't sure how to fix it. I tried and tried but it was just too hard for me. I couldn't see Sora's eyes in the reference photo.
Decided to paint over it and turn Reze into Himeno. It would make more sense for Himeno to smoke anyway. The face looks way better now too.
I cleaned it up a bit and outlined some parts! With a bit more time and love, it would've been something better but I just didn't have it in me. I am proud of how the creases on the clothes turned out though!
