2013 Creative Cups at Adelphi University
This was a project I did in college for their Annual Silent Auction benefitting Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program. My inspiration behind the design was the Roaring 20's, a time where some benefited from prosperity and cultural edge while others suffered from debt and discrimination. I chose a flapper dress as my inspiration because the free-spirit nature of the woman wearing the dress. Flappers were known to push boundaries which back in the Twenties could be considered immoral. But, to me, they were pushing to gain independence and freedom to have fun. Although I don't think it got many bids, I'm very proud of this piece and all the work I put into it.
