Visio Nocturna Imito

During the 1990s, German photographer Thomas Ruff worked on a series of night vision photography titled Nights. Night vision is the ability to see in conditions with low amounts of light, and the technology that allows us to see in such a way converts color into black-and-white, then the resulting image is made green due to our eyes being more sensitive to that color. For this series, I decided to make a replication of night vision after being inspired by Thomas Ruff’s night work, finding the green-glow aesthetics of night-time images to be appealing. These are not true night vision photographs, but merely imitations by photomanipulation.
