Tesla Museum & Science Center

Branding

Tesla Museum & Science Center is a Nikola Tesla museum on Long Island, New York. After a successful crowdsourcing campaign, the organisation behind the museum managed to purchase the land that held Tesla's last existing laboratory.

As my BA project at DMJX I decided to do a fictive identity for the yet to be build museum. After extensive research I found out that what people liked most about Tesla was his 87 ft high tower and his inventions involving electricity and wireless distribution plus his electrifying Tesla coils.

The Wardenclyffe Tower was Tesla's greatest project. Tesla's vision was to bring free wireless electricity to the whole world. It was the symbol of the laboratory, it was the symbol of the man, it was the symbol of what the fans admired about him, and it's now also the symbol of the Tesla Museum & Science Center.

To best embody the electrifying excitement of Tesla. A custom font was made for the museum based of the anatomy of neon lights, one of Tesla's many inventions.
