Harvest
The concept behind my game came from playing a certain board game called “Machi Koro”, I loved the way the game was designed and its simplicity. The idea of the game intrigues me as it was all about building a society and gaining profit. I decided to use this as the core concept for my game. As I am quite an environmental person I wanted to create a game around the different eco systems found around the world. The aim of the game would be to build a flourishing eco system successfully.

I like this idea as I thought it would educational to the players as well. As my idea developed I tried to introduce wild cards that may change the direction of the game completely. After doing a little market research I decided things were becoming a little over complicated, therefore I then chose to stick to our own eco system and base it around the seasons. The aim of the game shifted from building a successful eco system to developing fields with certain crops that would gain you the most profit at harvest.

SOFTWARE:
Adobe Illustrator.
Crops
Crops are used within the game to produce money, there are two different types, spring and summer which are both harvested in the autumn. As seen below there are a range of different crops available for purchase, the cost represents the price paid to own the crop as the profit represents the amount you gain when harvested.
Fields
To be able to plant a crop the player needs a field, the colour code applies to the amount of crops that the field is able to hold. For example, orange fields can sustain four crops, alternatively, black fields can only hold three.
CURRENCY
The currency holds values of 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50, this was to enable ease when purchasing and profiting from crops. The hexagonal design of the ‘coins’ correlates to the overall theme of the game. To easily differentiate between the ‘coins’ their respective currency is embossed on the surface as well as each having a slightly contrasting geometric shape.
Objective
To win the game the player must complete one objective from each category. There are three different objectives, crop, field and gold.

FIELD
1. Own one of each field colour.
2. Own three orange and yellow fields.
3. Have a field in all the summer hexagons.

CROP
1. Own 12 crops.
2. Own four orange crops.
3. Own two of each crop colour.
