TOKYO
Torii (shrine gates) into Yasukuni Shrine in Kudan, Tokyo.
The war dead are enshrined and immortalized here, including Class A war criminals indicted at the Tokyo War Tribunals. 
Yushukan War Memorial Museum, managed by Yasukuni Shrine. 
The museum takes a nationalistic and conservative approach to Japan's involvement in the war.

HIROSHIMA
The Memorial Cenotaph in Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park. 
Genbaku Dome (Atomic Bomb Dome), one of the only remaining structures that withstood the nuclear attack.

OKINAWA
Jet fighters, bombers and helicopters continue to fly over Okinawan skies.
Okinawa is famous for its beaches, and much of the local economy is sustained by the tourism industry.
Hibiscus are a symbolic flower for the Okinawans.
