It has all the elements of a blockbuster espionage thriller: A former CIA employee has access to information about classified intelligence programs that, to his horror, violates human rights. With the help of the media, he exposes these operations, which of course earns him powerful enemies and causes him to run for his life. Chillingly, this is not something that Hollywood has churned out or a new bestseller from Dan Brown. This is real, and this is the story of Edward Snowden.
UNO Magazine Guam commissioned me to create an editorial illustration for Edward Snowden. The illustration depicts a chase maze between Snowden and the NSA. The arrow hands symbolize the organizations or groups that’s looking for Snowden. From left to right, follows the timeline of events that took place from his tenure in the NSA to his discovery of mass surveillance and leaking the information to the world until his flight from Hongkong to Moscow.
