ENGRAVED 設計概念

以往立體字與Logo的設計為求減少施工製成上的成本，對於運用在空間中的造型大多以基礎的增加厚度(extrude)作為設計手法，缺少特殊文字造型運用在空間中的機會，然而隨著新型機具與數位製程的引進與施工裝修技術上的革新，我們開始思考如何對大量運用在商空與展場的立體字作出嘗試性的修改。

ENGRAVED 從立體造型的思維下發展字體設計，嘗試將數位加工的技術作最大化的陳述，透過陰刻陽刻的結合、字體筆畫之間的弧形相接與邊緣處特意傾斜的切削方式，展示數位加工所帶來的精準性與各文字造型的獨特性。

ENGRAVED DESIGN CONCEPT

When designing type signage in space, in order to reduce cost and manufacturing time, designers often only increase the depth of signage. Due to the advancement of technology, designers are able to create much more interesting shapes and details regarding signage and way-finding.

ENGRAVED is a typeface designed with the type’s three-dimensional signage in mind,

meaning parts of each letter are designed to be engraved or curved. By using the 5-axis digital sculpting technology, we are able to create type signage in ways that are rarely been done before.

數位雕刻 - 製作流程

字體設計完成後，便會在CNC軟體中進行刀具與路徑等等設定，以事先排除可能發生的問題，此部分也會導出機器的模擬運作情況與加工時間。設定妥善後，才能將料件置於作業台上，開始加工程序。

加工期間，需不定時查看機器與料件間的狀況，以確保作業安全以及是否按照預設的步驟完成加工。完成後，料件會產生不一的毛邊，此時需稍加打磨修整，才能進行最後的表面塗裝等處理。

Digital Sculpting - Process

After the typeface is designed, we will program the toolpath in CNC software to avoid any foreseeable errors. This process will also estimate the production time. After is production is complete, we will need to sand the sculpture before final coating of paint or other finishes.

ENGRAVED字體為數位雕刻字體的示範字體, 但任何的字體或平面圖樣都能設計成立體的數位雕刻，當然為確保製作及施工的準確度，設計上仍需要遵守些許的訂製規範。

ENGRAVED is a sample typeface that showcases the digital sculpting technology. But any typeface or vector graphic can be re-designed into digital sculpture. However due to manufacturing and installation, some standards are required.

牆面浮雕 / Wall Relief

櫃檯後方的Logo牆往往是簡易的立體字或是造型牆，透過數位雕刻技術我們能讓字體像是浮雕一般鑲入牆面，

打造字體和牆面一體成型的視覺效果。

The logo wall behind reception is usually a simple extruding text or a feature wall. Through the digital sculpting technology, we are able to design a type signage that seems to be engraved into the wall.

大面積使用 / Large Scale

像室內梯樓梯平台這樣的過渡空間通常會有兩層樓高的牆面，這樣的牆面對於商空品牌露出是個相當適合的空間。數位雕刻技術透過骨架可大面積的組裝置牆面，將牆面浮雕的視覺效果大面積的使用在牆面上。

The staircase platform in the transitional space of each floor often has a wall that is two floors tall. Such a wall is a great opportunity for brand exposure, through the digital sculpting technology we can install a large branding wall within the space using lumber frame.

門牌指標 / Doorplate Signage

此項技術不只可將字體埋於牆面內，也可將不同材質搭配製作門牌指標等造型。

This particular technology not only can be applied to wall relief,

it can also be used to produce doorplate signage when mixing different materials.

牆面指標 / Wall Signage

每個字母也可以分開使用搭配金屬框製作有別於以往造型的牆面指標。

Each letter can also be used separately, combining with metal frame to create an unique wall signage unlike no others.

櫥窗展示 / Window Display

數位雕刻同樣可使用到展示櫥窗內，搭配多種不同的材質和燈光裝置，為櫥窗內的每一個層次都進行點綴。

Digital sculpting can also be used in window displays. Pairing up with different materials and light fixtures, each layer within the display can be decorated with something different.
