Inspired my Michael Edens and created using watercolour and ink. I love the bright colours and patterns created by the media. (2010)
I think this piece of art was the foundation that my love of watercolour was built on. My grandma bought me a Winsor and Newton watercolour set and I remember being amazed by how vibrant and smooth and beautiful the colours were. Watercolour has become my preferred medium, and I think this piece was where my experimentation really begun.
Self portrait using oil pastel (2009) The roughness of this piece of work appeals to me. It is imperfect yet this adds texture.
Abstract face using paint, ink, oil pastel and wax. (2010)
I love how vibrant and fun this piece is. I really let myself experiment.
Wax and acrylic paint creates a nice texture (2010) I think wax should be incorporated into my new work as it adds such a lovely effect.
Clown watercolour painting. (2010) Unfortunately now I would not do a watercolour piece on this scale (A2) due to the costs of funding the materials myself. Looking back I seem to have become confined to the borders of my sketchbook or smallscale A4-A3 works where I feel more comfortable. Maybe I should challenge myself with A2 again?
Mechanical woman painting using acrylic paint. (2010) Although this isn't one of my best pieces of work, I think it is an important stage in my artistic life so to speak. I begun to experiment with acrylic paint and layers.
