HIMAYA // ABUSE STAYS
Himaya (which means "protection" in Arabic) is an NGO fighting child abuse in Lebanon.
In Lebanon more than 885,000 children are victims of psychological abuse, of which, 738'000 are also victims of physical abuse and 219'000 victims of sexual abuse. [Source: A study by Kafa (www.kafa.org.lb) in partnership with the Lebanese Ministry of Social Affairs]
One of Himaya's main objectives is to raise awareness to break through the stigma that surrounds the subject of abuse in Lebanese society - which is currently a huge barrier in the fight against child abuse.
