An almost century-old challenge in physics is the attempt to bring together the theory of quantum mechanics and Albert Einstein's theory of general relativity under one coherent roof.
That roof is called quantum gravity. Several candidates stand in line to marry these two theories. But as of yet, none of them has convincingly succeeded in sealing the deal.
My latest article "Quantum Gravity in the Making" sketches a brief overview of this quantum gravity landscape and provides an introductory glimpse at some of these competing candidates.
