Artist Series
Similar to sports, music has been another essential factor in my life. Having musicians on both sides of my family has been a blessing as I have had the pleasure of growing up surrounded by so many creative minds. As a result, I have been able to sit in on my father and his brothers while they were recording songs. As well, I have been able to see my grandmother on my mother's side play guitar and sing in church. I feel like that early exposure to music created a spark in me that I believe has helped me form a strong connection to the music and artists that I listen to. The passion that I experience when listening to music has pushed me to create a series of designs inspired many of today's popular artists.
Sketches
The first step in this process was to create sketches of each artist in a style that highlights unique facial features, forms, and shapes. These characteristics are key in making the final designs more recognizable. In terms of color scheme, colors were decided on a case to case basis. Some were inspired by NBA teams that these artists openly supported and others were assigned colors based off of album cover designs/ popular images.
Final Designs
Continuing off of the color scheme decisions mentioned earlier, another design choice that was carried over from the athlete series was the decision to include symbols that represent each artist. This was not implemented on the most recent designs however.
