Selling a $5.5 million Property and Designing the Interior
From Flooring, Tile and Paint to Furnishings and AccessoriesThis beautiful Cape Cod home located in Chatham, Massachusetts, is perched above the Oyster River and overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. Originally an old sea captain's house, the center portion of the structure was salvaged in order to keep the height and additions were built on either side. Since the buyers were from abroad, they asked me to manage the project and work with them to choose every thing from tile and flooring materials and bathroom fixtures to appliances, furniture, window treatments, rugs, etc. I handled every detail right down to the choice of cutlery, dinnerware, pots and pans, linens and bedding, etc. Most of our interaction took place via the internet. I also developed a private website where they could view photos of materials and furnishings I was contemplating.
Since the first floor spaces opened to one another it was important to develop color schemes that complimented each room without being obtrusive so that the eye could travel easily from space to space. This project was as much fun as it was challenging and the end result is lovely.
