Guangzhou Cityscapes (2013)

 

A series of ink and brush works depicting central Guangzhou were created between the months of May and August. These works focused on the city's changing face, it's highrise buildings and the dimension of height, as important considerations within the image. Nearly all of these works were drawn at night in order to force an accentuated visualisation of the architecture being drawn.

 

Many of these images depict Guangzhou's IFC alongside a number of buildings under construction.

 

The brush styles found in these works are varied. At times the line is unhindered in its visualisation of a scene, at other times the brush is used to create tone within the work, lastly there are works wherein the ink is diluted and the stroke is entirely lost.
