19 Chairs is a charity project created by two South London brothers, Tom Butterfield and Will Butterfield. As two emerging designers living at home under the same roof during lockdown, they decided to utilise their free time and get creative. Over a period of 19 days, together the brothers created one chair a day for 19 days, each unique in their own right. The chairs were then shipped worldwide to 19 celebrated creatives who had volunteered to become their custodians.
The line up includes; Sabine Marcelis, Jean Jullien, Tom Dixon and Es Devlin amongst others.
19 Chairs will be reunited and ripped from their packaging at their exhibition this March (dates TBC) at Protein Studios. An online charity auction will run in parallel where each customised chair will be sold.
