Vitja - cake platter

Furniture
Vitja is a surfboard like cake platter with three legs, inspired by
50’s wooden furniture idiom.
The brief for this one was to use a fitting. I ended up using the traditional, round mortise and tenon joint.

The “board” is a double-curved piece, fashioned from birch and wenge. Legs are turned, carved and then sanded to a form you could call an oval cone. Every leg has a cylinder form top - working as a fitting - that comes through the platter at a 60 degree angle.

Want to share a piece of cake?
Vitja's delicious form makes your rejoicing enviable to your neighbors making it
a truly immeasurable cake experience.
