Typeface design and Danish national identity

How can a typeface express the essence of Denmark, its language and its national identity?

The identity of an entity such as a country is an exceedingly subjective notion, making it hard to recognise one’s own identity. My final project attempts to find the heart of Danish identity and illustrate it through a specially designed typeface. Diatrics give a language a unique appearance, so by creating a typeface not only designed for a country, but also a language, gives creative flair to the final product. The typeface Dania expresses Danish identity through both the overall design, as well as in its specific characteristics.
