Domestic Abuse Response Team Logo
During a summer internship, I was approached with a design challenge to create a logo for a new organization, Domestic Abuse Response Team. This team was formed to reach those in the local church who have experienced domestic abuse and provide counseling and a safe place. The goal was to design a logo that felt inviting as this topic is hard to approach while also remaining neutral to both female and male audiences.
Solution
To begin, I did significant research into areas of domestic abuse and into symbolism of hope, security, safety, and the church’s role. I discovered purple is the color designated for domestic abuse and green resembles growth and a new beginning. With requirements to follow the church’s brand standards, I used a circle to stay within the structure, as well as the typefaces displayed. I was able to determine this design around a dove of hope and a rose window to resemble the church as a safe place.
